Tetra Pak, the world leading food processing and packaging company, recently organised a health awareness seminar titled, Best Milk Feeding Practices during Childhood.
Over 250 students, senior faculty and final year medical students at Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) attended the seminar.
Professor Dr Javed Akram, Principal of AIMC, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and was accompanied by Professor Dr Tariq Bhatti, professor of paediatrics and Head of the Department at AIMC, Dr Naeem Zafar, President and Honorary Chief Executive at Protection and Help of Children against Abuse and Neglect (PAHCHAAN).
"Osteoporosis is a debilitating disease but it is possible to take preventive measures at an early age to mitigate the risk of osteoporosis in later life.
A healthy diet supplemented by regular calcium intake, through dairy products like milk, will help fortify bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis in the future," remarked Dr Javed Akram in his keynote speech on the topic of modern trends in the management of osteoporosis.
Dr Muhammad Moaz, a paediatrician, speaking on the importance of milk, said "Milk is a complete source of nutrition for individuals of all age groups.
It contains essential macro and micro nutrients such as proteins; for cell development and growth, carbohydrates for energy, and calcium for the development of strong bones and teeth," he added.
The seminar was part of Tetra Pak's Health Ambassadors' Forum series, which has already reached approximately 1,530 health professionals in Pakistan with an aim to create a deeper awareness about the benefits of drinking hygienic and nutritious milk.
